Vandaag verschijnt het boek Wings: The Story of a Band on the Run over de muzikale ontwikkeling van Paul McCartney in de jaren 70. McCartney won tijdens zijn carrière onder meer 19 Grammy Awards en hij kreeg uit handen van de Franse president François Hollande de Ordre national de la Légion d’honneur. Toch was niet iedereen enthousiast over zijn muziek. Zo zei de Amerikaanse commentator William F. Buckley Jr. over McCartney en zijn Beatles: ‘They are so unbelievably horrible, so appalingly unmusical, so dogmatically insensitive to the magic of art, that they qualify as crowned heads of anti-music.’
